Useful insects are true gardeners’ assistant. They will naturally eat harmful insects, visit flowers and play an important part in the food chain.
By positioning the insect hotel near flowers or near vegetable garden, you give to solitary bees, solitary wasps, mason bees, butterflies, lady bugs, bumble bees and European earwig a habitat for winter. The European earwig eats many harmful insects and helps degrading plants when they start to decompose. Or the chrysopidae which is a natural enemy to some harmful insects that can be found in horticulture or arboriculture. No more insecticide is needed!
You should opt for a place that is protected from the wind as well as the rain and orientate towards the south. Do not put the insect villa directly on the ground. It needs to be slightly above the ground at the height that you desire and placed on a stake, a wall, a screen wall or a tree.
Add some fresh leaves in the compartment created for butterflies (split).
Fabricated with screw to enable an easy cleaning or for changing the areas with the wire netting if needed.
